One of the easiest forms of text chat if you have a modern Web browser such as Internet
Explorer 5 (which comes with the oceanfree.net software), is to go to a Java-based chat

Simply find a chat room in the directory, wait a few seconds for the Java interface for
the chat room to download into your browser, enter your nickname and press Connect (or a
similar button) and off you go...
Besides Java-based chat, some chat programs such as ichat are available as plug-ins for
your Web browser.
