Step
2: Menus, buttons and addresses
At
the very top of the Web browser's screen are various important menus
and buttons.
The
menu bar
The
menu bar is at the very top of the browser. It says things like
"File", "Edit", "View", "Go",
"Favorites" (or "Bookmarks") and "Help".
This menu bar is where you can do various important things such
as quit out of the program, get help on using it, or change certain
display characteristics such as the screen's font size, the background
colour, etc.
The
button bar
Another
set of functions is contained in the "Button bar" (the
line of buttons marked "Stop", "Home" etc).
"Address"
(or "Location")
And
another key section at the top of the browser, below the top menu,
is the "Address" (some browsers call this the "Location").
This is where you can type the full address of a particular Web
page in order to visit it. For example, typing "http://www.oceanfree.net"
(without the quotation marks of course) gets you to the opening
page on the oceanfree.net site. In most modern browsers, you don't
even have to type the "http://" bit of the address - the
browser will put it in automatically for you.
