Step
3: "Back" and "Forward"
Two
of the most important functions in the Button bar are the buttons
marked "Back" and "Forward". As you travel from
one Web page to another you will often need to retrace your steps
to return to pages that you've already explored. So clicking on
the "Back" button is a quick way of jumping back to the
last-but-one page you were at.
For
example, if you've just read "Step 1" and "Step 2"
of this guide, you can click the "Back" button once to
return to "step 2", or twice to go back to "Step
1".
The
"Forward "button only becomes activated when you have
taken one or more steps back. Then it takes you to the next of the
pages along your route, in the order you previously viewed them.
To see what we mean, try clicking the "Back" button once
or twice (but don't forget to click the "Forward" button
the same number of times to return to this page!).
