Improved Firewall Connectivity.
oceanfree.net Instant Messenger 3.0 can be installed in
networked workstations, and is capable of working behind
NAT, Firewall, Socks and HTTP Proxy servers.
Please follow the instructions below:
If you are working in a networked environment and
behind a HTTP Proxy, you will be asked for the following
information during the Smart Download process:
- The Proxy Server's name/address and the Port number
- Your username and password for access to the Proxy
Server
If you have difficulties registering oceanfree.net
Instant Messenger:
1. When you get the "Registration Failed" message,
click Retry and go to the second registration window.
2. Check the "I'm behind a Firewall" box at the bottom
of the window.
3. If you are behind an HTTP Proxy, click the Proxy
Settings button. A window opens allowing you to fill
in the Proxy IP address and Port (see * below).
4. Click Finish.
If you encounter difficulties after registration:
1. Select Tools -> Preferences -> Connection.
2. Check the "Behind Firewall or Proxy" checkbox and
click the "Firewall" button. A window opens with options
of connecting to oceanfree.net Instant Messenger through
NAT, Firewall, Socks and HTTP Proxy servers.:
If you are behind an HTTP Proxy Server, ask your system
administrator (or see * below) for the IP and Port number
of the Proxy, and fill in the appropriate fields.
Note: After changing any firewall settings, it is
recommended to restart oceanfree.net Instant Messenger.
To Find your Proxy Server IP and Port:
IE4.0
1. From Explorer's Tools Menu, select Internet Options.
2. Select the Connections tab, and click the "LAN Settings..."
button. You can now view your Proxy server IP and Port
in the Proxy Serverpart of the window.
IE5.x
1. From Explorer's View Menu, select Internet Options.
2. Select the Connection tab. You can now view your
Proxy server IP and Port in the Proxy Server part of
the window.
Netscape Navigator 4.x
1. From Netscape's Edit Menu, select Preferences.
2. Double click the Advanced option and then select
Proxies.
3. Click the View button near the Manual Proxy Configuration.
The relevant Proxy settings are the IP and Port from
the HTTP line.
